Pastor and The Daily Times editor Buzz Trexler compares Christian belief to penguin sex

The press has many important functions that can be invaluable.  As such, it’s important to know the people who are doing the reporting as it can give insight into the mindsets and biases that occur in journalism.

Buzz Trexler is the pastor at Green Meadow United Methodist Church and an editor at The Daily Times.  His blog/website can help readers glean information about his approach to journalism and preaching.

There you will find that he preached a sermon at the Friendsville United Methodist Church entitled, “Christian Belief Is Like Penguin Sex.”

And that folks is who is editing your daily source of written news in the Bible belt.

Why “Dr.” Russell Moore’s political view is irrelevant

“Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”

1 Thessalonians 5:20-21

“Dr.” Russell Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission has had his share of the “news” limelight in recent months due to his Trash Trump on Twitter campaign which is mostly self-promotion and making merchandise of the people, but I guess every business ministry has to get publicity somehow. And, like Glenn Beck, Moore has also criticized evangelical voters who selected Trump and has gone so far as to compare them to the Israelites who begged Aaron to fashion a golden calf for them to represent the “gods that brought us out of Egypt”. He even had his own presidential candidate forum in Nashville last August. Actually, his organization announced a “series” of forums, but only the first one happened. Moore claimed to have invited all candidates that were “polling at 10 percent or higher to be interviewed, including Hillary Clinton…”. Uh…..right. So of course, only Single Digit Jeb showed up. And they got to watch a video interview of Marco Rubio. Now keep in mind, this is in front of a crowd of 13,000 Southern Baptists. Apparently “tea party darling” soon to become “evangelical” candidate Ted Cruz wasn’t interested? Well, actually Russell didn’t invite the Southern Baptist candidates, nor “evangelical” candidate and winner of the 2012 TN primary, Rick Santorum:

“As for Southern Baptist GOP candidates, specifically former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sen. Ted Cruz, and Gov. Rick Perry, Moore told Christian Examiner he did not invite them because that would have turned the forum “into a moment of identity politics instead of a time of conversation.”

[T]o do so would have sent a signal that we were looking for spiritual qualifications for civil office,” Moore said.

HUH? Isn’t that what Moore is complaining about NOW when it comes to Clinton and Trump – their lack of spiritual qualifications for civil office (whatever that means)? Did he really think putting these “non-Baptists” in front of a crowd of 13,000 Southern Baptists did not have the effect of identity politics – requiring the same kind of pandering they all did for Iowa?

Other Southern Baptists have noted Moore’s expressed liberal views – which happen to align more with Single Digit Jeb and Marco Rubio than other candidates, who also just happen to be the only two candidates to get the face time with Southern Baptists at Moore’s Civil Forum. Let’s face it, they didn’t typically draw 13,000 to their rallies later in the campaign.

For me though, this isn’t why I’m not interested in hearing from Moore, his ERLC or the SBC on how best to pick the next King Saul. My objection goes back to 1992. Back then the SBC publication, Baptist and Reflector, gushed about the “Southern Baptist” team of Bill Clinton and Al Gore and how they were the “evangelical” candidates. I was a “young skull full of mush” Limbaugh fan and his “talent on loan from God” had plenty of ammo for why not to vote for Clinton/Gore. Moore was old enough to vote back then. Maybe he remembers the SBC pumping up Hillary Clinton’s husband and lock-box Al. Or since he works there, maybe he could get the archives folks to post some of those 1990’s editions (I guarantee that I will be watching for it). So when “Dr.” Moore, who obtained his training from the same folks that pushed Bill Clinton in 1992, can admit maybe, just maybe the SBC played a part in training this generation in looking for golden calves from Bill’s wife….well, he might be relevant again.

USA ranks 20th on The Human Freedom Index

Not everything on this website is written by me

There are some in the community who think that everything on this website is written by me (Tona Monroe).  That is not the case.  This site was never intended to be a website solely with material written by me.  I own domains with my name and could just as easily write the material there.

There are some in the community who think that I agree with everything written on this website.  That is not the case either.  My intention in creating this website was never to have complete and total agreement with every word posted here.

The litmus test for content on this website was never complete and total agreement with my views and is not the case now.  My goals are to promote freedom and transparency in government.  Those are the reasons why I started this website and why I continue publishing on this website.  Those are also the reasons that I ran for office and what I hope to achieve while in office.

The content here is intended to be thought provoking while promoting freedom and openness in government.  Everything that is posted here should no more be viewed as my opinions than letters to the editors are viewed as being the opinions of the editors at newspapers.

As I’ve said many times before and will continue saying, let freedom ring!

When They Came for Me…

“In May, Houston’s City Council passed an ordinance that extended anti-discrimination laws to gay and transgender residents.”

Now if you preach against homosexuality in Houston, you could be in trouble: “…City attorneys issued subpoenas last month…seeking, among other communications, “all speeches, presentations, or sermons related to [the Equal Rights Ordinance], the Petition, Mayor Annise Parker, homosexuality, or gender identity prepared by, delivered by, revised by, or approved by you or in your possession.” The subpoenas were issued to pastors and religious leaders who have been vocal in opposing the ordinance…”

More here.

When they came for the Muslims, I didn’t speak up because I am not a Muslim.
When they came for the drug users, I didn’t speak up because I am not a drug user.
When they came for the homosexuals, I didn’t speak up because I am not a homosexual.
Then they came for me, but there was no one left to speak for me.

But Syria isn’t a “Christian Nation”™ like we are

John 10:16  And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

I am sure these Nuns just need to review the intel – or get paid by the Saudis – then it will all become clear why we need to (continue to) help Al Qaeda blow them up to “fight for our freedoms”.  At least we are hoping that story will work on the men and women we are sending in while our “war hero” plays poker on his phone.

You see the beauty of these hills, the smile on people’s faces, the good-natured gaze of a boy who is about to join the army and gives us the two or three peanuts he has in his pocket as a token of “togetherness”…. And then you remember that they have decided to bomb us tomorrow. … Just like that. Because “it’s time to do something,” as it is worded in the statements of the important men, who will be sipping their tea tomorrow as they watch TV to see how effective their humanitarian intervention will be….

Will they make us breathe the toxic gases of the depots they hit, tomorrow, so as to punish us for the gases we have already breathed in?

The people are straining their eyes and ears in front of the television: all they’re waiting for is a word from Obama!

A word from Obama? Will the Nobel Peace Prize winner drop his sentence of war onto us? Despite all justice, all common sense, all mercy, all humility, all wisdom?

Retired Nurse Expresses Concerns about Vaccinations: Receives Canned Response from State

This is from retired nurse Suzie Bowman.  She expressed her concerns about vaccinations and received a generic response.  Where is the safety record that she is referring to?  Vaccines aren’t double blind placebo controlled tested.   Sophisticated?  How so?

From Suzie Bowman:

Well, I suppose we are now to rest easy on the matter.

Same old indoctrination tactics utilized to ‘TRAIN’ our doctors and nurses to SPEW the safety(?) propaganda.
I’m relatively certain you know exactly what I mean.

Ms. Bowman,
Thank you for contacting Governor Haslam to share your concerns about immunizations. Please note that the adjuvanted H1N1 vaccine linked to narcolepsy in Scandinavia was not licensed or given in the United States, and no US influenza vaccines were linked to any such problems.  We use sophisticated surveillance systems to help us recognize and react quickly to any unexpected, rare events associated with a vaccine because our highest priority is the safety of these vaccines. While credible scientific data consistently and overwhelmingly support the evidence that vaccination is critical to protecting and promoting the health of Tennesseans of all ages,  Tennessee law (TCA 37-10-42) honors the wishes of parents whose religious beliefs or practices lead them to refuse vaccinations required for school or daycare attendance by allowing instead for schools to protect them by excluding such children from those facilities during outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases. To obtain this exemption, parents may provide the school with a letter stating that vaccination conflicts with their religious tenets or practices.

Subject: 800 more children permanently harmed by vaccinesDear Honorable Governor Bill Haslam,The current vaccine recommendations (mandates) MUST be reevaluated.
ALL vaccines compromise one’s GOD-given natural immunity.
Scare tactics are utilized to manipulate compliance.
MANY adverse reactions are not being reported to VAERS.

Parents have the right to choose regarding vaccinations for their children.

800 more children permanently harmed by vaccines

More evidence has emerged showing that the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) vaccine Pandemrix, which was widely administered throughout Europe during the 2009-2010 H1N1 influenza “pandemic,” was responsible for causing serious and permanent side effects in many of the children that received it. At least 800 children, it turns out, many of whom live in Sweden, now have narcolepsy because of the vaccine, and some government officials are demanding answers.

As we reported back in March 2012, a study published in the journal Public Library of Science ONE found that cases of narcolepsy, an incurable sleeping disorder that can cause hallucinations, nightmares, and even paralysis, skyrocketed by about 1,700 percent in children and teenagers under the age of 17 following the widespread administration of Pandemrix. Scientists determined at the time that mass vaccination campaigns for Pandemrix were directly associated with this otherwise inexplicable spike in cases of narcolepsy.

Now, researchers have all but confirmed without a doubt that Pandemrix was, indeed, responsible for triggering the autoimmune disorder in a significantly higher percentage of the population than normal. Even Emmanuel Mignot, one of the world’s leading experts on narcolepsy who is currently being funded by GSK to get to the bottom of the issue, explained to reporters that there is “no doubt in [his] mind whatsoever” that Pandemrix is directly responsible for causing the increase in narcolepsy cases among European children.

“This is a medical tragedy,” added Goran Stiernstedt, a public health official from Stockholm, Sweden, about the wave of vaccine-induced narcolepsy in his country. Roughly five million Swedes were vaccinated for H1N1 during the 2009-2010 “pandemic,” and yet as few as 30 people among these are estimated to have been saved from swine flu death as a result of the shot. Meanwhile, more than 200 cases of narcolepsy have since been reported and confirmed throughout the Scandinavian country. “Hundreds of young people have had their lives almost destroyed.”

Following the initial release of reports linking Pandemrix to narcolepsy, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) quickly blocked the vaccine from being further administered to individuals under the age of 20. But the damage has already been done among those who have been confirmed to be vaccine-damaged as a result of Pandemrix. And unless the vaccine is completely banned among all age groups, further reports of permanent vaccine damage could emerge in the coming months and years.

Back in 2011, a GSK subsidiary pleaded guilty to marketing medicines and vaccines that were known to be contaminated with bacteria. A tip from a company whistleblower triggered a federal investigation that exposed the GSK company for deliberately contaminating products in order to cut costs, and carelessly manufacturing some of its drugs with bacteria-contaminated water.

New Legal Challenges to ObamaCare

Michael Cannon of the Cato Institute writes in the LATimes:

The Pacific Legal Foundation is challenging the individual mandate, which originated in the Senate, even though the Constitution requires that tax measures originate in the House. The mandate is also vulnerable because it is not uniform across all states. And more than 40 lawsuits allege the law violates the 1st Amendment’s protections of religious freedom.
