Tennessee Probably Spent $1.3 in 2008-9 with L-1 to Implement Driver’s License Biometrics

Money Spent (wasted) by the Tennessee Department of Safety with the Company L-1 Secure Credentialing Inc.

The amount is roughly $1.3 million in 2008 and 2009, and this amount does not include 2010-2011.

L-1 is being purchased by BAE Systems, Inc. and Safran, companies with ties to two foreign nations.  30.2% of Safran is owned by the French government. This sale is pending approval of the US government.  Read more here.

I am working to find out if this money was spent for biometric and/or surveillance purposes.
