58 State Boards and Commissions

The Governor recently made appointments to 58 Boards and Commissions.  I gasped when I read this.  58 Boards and this isn’t all.

Some are obvious, but how many people have heard of the Advisory Committee for the Purchase from the Blind and Other Severely Disabled or the Board of Boiler Rules or the Elevator and Amusement Device Safety Board or the Information Systems Council or the Interagency Coordinating Council or the Sam Davis Memorial Association Board of Trustees etc.

Did you know that we have a Board for grapes?  It’s called the Viticulture Advisory Board.

There’s the Underground Storage Tanks and Solid Waste Disposal Control Board.  You can’t even dig a dang hole in the ground to store something without government approval.  Soon there will be a Dog Digging Burial Board to regulate the holes your dog digs and the holes you dig to bury your dead dogs.

Seriously I think it’s time to pull the plug on government, let it all go down the drain and start over.  But don’t tell the government that I said that, because some automaton in government will propose a Board to regulate those bloggers who want to get rid of government.

Here’s to a new year free of the evils of government.
