These stats are not new or showing a new trend. It has long been known that the big city is where the crime happens most, but sinfulness knows no zip code. Is it the high density of population, or being surrounded by man-made creation, being vexed with the conversation of the wicked or some combination? I don’t know, but at any rate, you don’t want to move to the city for safety.
I think the stats may get “redefined” also, much like school assaults once they began to really pay attention to them for NCLB funding purposes. The motivation became being declared a “safe school” – assaults be damned. So, suddenly a lot of violent behavior stopped being reported. Australia, who is enjoying increased crime across the board since their gun ban, has done a similar thing with “home invasion”. Suddenly, it has become confusing just what it means when some violent stranger breaks into your home. The government cannot keep you safe. It is impossible. After disarming the public, they will not accept any responsibility for the increased crime against the innocent people they disarmed.
